Filipino culture is a merger of multi-cultures that happen to be foreign colonizers ( namely, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, American lineages among others). These historic accounts had been recorded in the pages of Philippines history.

  1. Hospitable. Filipinos are warm in welcoming and accomodating guests to their homes. We share our meal to guest, we are quick to offer our foods and drinks to new visitors and would rather sleep on the floor as our guests sleeps in our own bedroom.
  2. Honorable. When a Filipino makes a promise we intend to keep it. We are known for our “Palabra de honor” (word of honor).
  3. Polite . You will always hear a Filipinos with the very unique term called “po and opo”. Po or opo are words that either punctuate or end the usual conversational sentences when talking to an older person.
  4. Respectful . The young ones acknowledge the presence of elderly a gesture to relatives or to old acquaintances and saying “Mano Po”. Younger kids use the words “tito” (“uncle”) or “tita” (“auntie”) for relatives, and the words “lolo” or “lola” to their grandparents.
  5. Extended Family System . Filipinos always keep the Family kinship, parents always allow their married children live with them under one roof.
  6. Helpful. Filipinos are considered helpful due to the traditional “Bayanihan” culture. Helping each other in times of calamities or when physically moving houses from one place to anohter. (Old bayanihan pictures the gesture of Filipinos helping his/her neighbor in times of moving houses as old books define it.)

Imperial Manila is is the most influential central district of government in the Philippines. That all the affairs of the Philippines whether in politics, business, economy, or culture are believed to be dictated by what is happening in the capital region Metro Manila.

Often times Philippines is known as Manila, or we can safely say foreigners always knew Philippines by the name Manila!
