In the Philippines, it has been recognized that tricycles provide an alternative mode of transport for short distances. Therefore, tricycles are visible and widely used along the feeder roads. Moreover, tricycles also give alternative livelihood especially to the unskilled individuals and because there is an increase in the commuting population, it is expected that the population of tricycles will also increase. According to statistics, motorcycles and tricycles comprise 34% of vehicle populations and 94% of these have 2-stroke engines.
